Located within an exclusive part of Italy, in one of the most prestigious sections of the Argentario promontory, awash with incredible natural beauty, and set against the wonderful backdrop of typically Tuscan maquis, Villaghirlanda offers guests a relaxing holiday immersed in lush landscapes just a stone's throw from the sea. The atmosphere is peaceful and family-friendly. Guests at the residence have private access to a delightful sandy beach, which is ideal for children and can be reached on foot within 10 minutes.
With its local stone facade, the villa is tastefully decorated and features large windows. Spacious and well cared-for, the house comprises a lounge/dining room, 3 en suite double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 1 room with a queen-sized bed, a bathroom, 1 utility room with toilet facilities, and a dining kitchen complete with a full range of domestic appliances, including a dishwasher, a washing machine, an oven and a fridge. Guests have access to the generously proportioned terrace, complete with sun loungers for some serious sun bathing, and a garden table and chairs that are perfect for savouring a barbecued al fresco lunch or dinner.
Villaghirlanda is the ideal base from which to visit places rich in Etruscan and mediaeval history, such as Pitigliano and Sorano. The thermal spa at Saturnia is around 30 miles away, whereas the ruins of the cities of Ansedonia and Capalbio are a mere 5 miles away. Every day, ferries depart from Porto Santo Stefano for the islands of Giglio and Giannutri. Porto Ercole plays host – within the Orbetello lagoon – to Cala Galera, the nature reserve protected by the WWF. The cultural capitals of Siena, Pisa, Florence and Rome are all within easy reach.

Porto Ercole

Porto Ercole is located in Tuscany, and specifically to the south of the town of Monte Argentario, on a peninsula that extends out into the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Although tourism is on the increase in this part of the province of Grosseto, you can still savour the wonderful coastal views, warm water and sandy beaches, as well as a plethora of sites of historic interest. Over the medium term, this area is sure to be discovered by mass-market tour operators, and so now is most certainly the time to visit.

How to get to Porto Ercole
The international airport that is closest to Porto Ercole d'Italia is Roma Fiumicino (FCO), which is 85 miles to the south along the coast. An alternative option is to fly to Perugia's Sant'Egidio airport (PEG), and then drive for 115 miles through the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside.
